| While my initial training as an engineer taught me the significance of technical drawings, studying architecture revealed the importance of the metaphysical and immaterial aspects of design, making me curious about how to graphically express certain abstract concepts. I discovered that our inner eye captures much more than what we actually ...

Arbitration Law in Italy. Domestic and international perspectives

Arbitration Law in Italy. Domestic and international perspectives

Autore: CARLO RASIA , ELENA ZUCCONI

Numero di pagine: 192

This book is a useful knowledge tool for all those who intend to study the Italian arbitration system in depth, with reference to the regulations and laws currently in force, both within a national and an international framework. The relatively short size of the book is justified by intention to provide an overview of the system, along with a carefully selected list of references of the doctrine and the case law, starting from general notions, then dealing with more specific issues, step by step. It starts from arbitration conventions, followed by the appointment of arbitrators; then the various phases of the arbitration procedure are discussed and commented on, highlighting in particular the taking of evidence, and an emphasis is given to subjective complications of the proceedings. The final section of the book deals with arbitration awards, their review and the recognition and enforcement of foreign awards in Italy. A chapter is dedicated to the delicate relation between arbitration and trial before an Italian judge. To provide and complete the view of arbitration in Italy, the annexes at the end of the book report an non-official translation of the articles of the Italian Code ...

Roma e lo sguardo / Roman perspectives

Autore: Giuseppina Enrica Cinque , Antonella Falzetti , Renato Gavasci , Tullia Iori , Nicoletta Marconi , Stefania Mornati , Luigi Ramazzotti

This work offers a new (and probably unexpected) vision of Rome, together with its historical and cultural heritage. It renders vivid, at least partially, ...

Indo-European Perspectives

Autore: Anna Morpurgo Davies , J. H. W. Penney

Numero di pagine: 598

This book brings together new and original work by forty two of the world's leading scholars of Indo-European comparative philology and linguistics from around the world. It shows the breadth and the continuing liveliness of enquiry in an area which over the last century and a half has opened many unique windows on the civilizations of the ancient world. The volume is a tribute to Anna Morpurgo Davies to mark her retirement as the Diebold Professor of Comparative Philology at the University of Oxford. The book's six parts are concerned with the early history of Indo-European (Part I); language use, variation, and change in ancient Greece and Anatolia (Parts II and III); the Indo-European languages of Western Europe, including Latin, Welsh, and Anglo-Saxon (Part IV); the ancient Indo-Iranian and Tocharian languages (Part V); and the history of Indo-European linguistics (Part VI). Indo-European Perspectives will interest scholars and students of Indo-European philology, historical linguistics, classics, and the history of the ancient world.

City Branding and New Media

City Branding and New Media

Autore: Maria Cristina Paganoni

Numero di pagine: 176

Like nations and regions, cities have become aware of the importance of building a convincing reputation to engage their local and global stakeholders – residents, businesses, investors, tourists, students, sports and cultural organisations. Thanks to this wide potential reach, the city brand has expanded from a mere tourism strategy into a multifaceted tool of e-governance in the hands of local administrations and their civic partners by addressing key issues such as active citizenship, social inclusion and promotion of cultural heritage and mega-events like world fairs. This book explores city branding in the public sector from a privileged linguistic, discursive and semiotic perspective, analysing how local municipal governments use new media in their communication agendas.

Archeomedsites

Autore: AA. VV.

Numero di pagine: 70

The Italian Ministry for cultural heritage and activities and for tourism played its role as Lead Partner in the framework of the project Archeomedsites with diligence and care: an opportunity for the Italian partners to share and to work together with the Southern Mediterranean Shore's partners: the Ministry of Culture of Lebanon and The National Heritage Institute of Tunisia. The project - carried on in harmony, for effective sharing research, activities and experience – formally closed in December 2015, but it was meant to be kept on, ideally, also in other ongoing activities. At the beginning, MIBACT coordinated the Project through The Directorate General for Landscape, Fine Arts, Contemporary Architecture and Art, then – following to the internal re-organization of the Ministry – through the Secretariat General, counting on the important cultural and scientific Partners' contribution and engagement to attain Archeomesites' final objectives.

Change of Perspective

Numero di pagine: 180

The 25th issue of ICOM Education that I have the pleasure to introduce has two new features: – it is sponsored by the European Union; – all CECA members were invited to present a contribution. The European Union sponsored our journal through EMEE EuroVision - Museums Exhibiting Europe, a project led by the University of Augsburg, whose purpose is to explore an innovative, interdisciplinary approach for museums to re-interpret their objects. Therefore the core of the project is the change of perspective (COP). The project partners all considered CECA as an outstanding platform to disseminate the project, which is a further proof of the reputation of our Committee. […] (Emma Nardi)

Conflicts, Pandemics and Peacebuilding

Conflicts, Pandemics and Peacebuilding

Autore: Andrea Cellino , Annalisa Perteghella

Numero di pagine: 119

The Covid-19 pandemic is not only a health challenge. In the MENA region, against the backdrop of protracted conflicts, instability, and an overall deterioration in socio-economic conditions, the coronavirus crisis adds another layer of vulnerability and has already had long-lasting repercussions on human security across the region. Moreover, as hybrid actors take on an important role as security providers amid the pandemic in a context of limited or absent oversight, risks associated to a lack of accountability, ethno-religious discrimination, human rights abuses, and gender-based violence grow. While classical approaches to security provision tend to portray non-state actors and the State as inherently at odds, the complexity of a rapidly evolving security landscape throughout the region should trigger a revision of the very concept of effective governance. Against this backdrop, how should Security Sector Reform (SSR) strategies and programmes adapt? What lessons can be drawn from selected case studies such as Iraq, Libya, and Yemen?
