A Multitude of Women looks at the ways in which both Italian literary tradition and external influences have assisted Italian women writers in rethinking the theoretical and aesthetic ties between author, text, and readership in the construction of the novel. Stefania Lucamante discusses the valuable contributions that Italian women writers have made to the contemporary novel and illustrates the relevance of the novelistic examples set by their predecessors. Luigi Capuana: Experimental Fiction and Cultural Mediation in Post-Risorgimento Italy. The studies in this collection revisit established critical positions which confine Luigi Capuana’s work within the orbits of Naturalism and Positivism. A variety of theoretical readings in the volume investigate how the author’s experimentalism and eclectic interests respond to positivist ideology, the limitations of scientific practices, and the conflicts and anxieties of the fin de siècle which arise from a change in intellectual attitudes towards new ways of interpreting reality. The volume’s three sections focus on cultural mediation and the construction of socio-literary identities, gender representation and metaliterature, and on the author’s experimentation with the natural, supernatural and fantastic. In questo numero monografico di Filoloski pregled ci si propone di indagare la presenza e la metaforologia dell’insetto nella cultura e letteratura italiana anche in prospettiva comparatistica, prendendo in considerazione le seguenti linee di ricerca : rappresentazioni di insetti nella tradizione letteraria italiana: tematizzazioni didascaliche e allegorie entomologiche; trasformazioni diacroniche del motivo entomologico attraverso i secoli e i contesti ; intersezioni fra generi e discorsi letterari/artistici; simboli e stigmi legati all’immagine dell’insetto; riscritture del tema. Fabrizio, an impoverished aristocrat, is compelled to earn a living as a translator specialising in nineteenth-century German novels. Although he is 38 years old, he suffers from chronic shyness and is unable to live in his time and to form lasting relationships. By chance he comes across a lost essay which praises Das Haus am Mondsee, a novel by an imaginary turn of the century Viennese writer. Fabrizio envisages finding this lost novel and acquiring a reputation in the field of German Studies. His search takes him to Vienna and then to the region of Salzburg, on the Moon lake of the title where, quite by chance, and after he has abandoned all hope, he finds the novel -- and more than he has bargained for. As the story becomes increasingly complicated, the threshold between reality and fiction fades away. Maria, the dead writer's muse, ceases to be just a dream and becomes real, while Fabrizio becomes increasingly weaker and falls prey to a strange illness. Oggi, dopo le sperimentazioni moderniste della costruzione dell’io, si affermano opere narrative e poetiche che mettono in discussione il confine tra verità autobiografica e finzione, stimolando ulteriormente il dibattito sull’autobiografia che nel Nord Europa si sviluppa dagli anni Ottanta del Novecento ed è vivace, innovativo e articolato. I 24 autori del volume – studiosi italiani e scandinavi attivi in Italia o all’estero, ricercatori e scrittori scandinavi interessati all’Italia – illustrano la pluralità e gli usi delle scritture autobiografiche dal Cinquecento a oggi, illuminano zone di un territorio vasto, indagano testi poco studiati o tornano a interrogare i classici.
