«La musica di Giuseppe Verdi è stata la colonna sonora della mia vita! Rigoletto mi ha sempre affascinata, incuriosita. Un personaggio tagliato con l’accetta, così come lo era il suo autore, che mi ha affascinato al punto di voler sondare la sua genesi e il suo allestimento. I piani di lettura di Rigoletto sono plurimi ma quello che mi ha sempre colpito è l’aspetto più umano e dolente di Rigoletto che - involve - fino alla catastrofe nel vano tentativo di mutare il suo destino. Il destino dell’uomo che lotta con tutte le sue forze per avere una vita ‘normale’ in cui affetto e calore facciano - finalmente - rima con amore. C’è pochissimo amore in quest’opera, molta mercificazione di esso ma anche una cattiva cognizione dello stesso. Un amore che distrugge in suo nome perché: Rigoletto ama sua figlia! Gilda ama il Duca! Il Duca ama solo se stesso! E tutti, in questa mefitica spirale, si ‘perdono’! La speranza ha da tempo abbandonato la casa di Rigoletto lasciando, al suo posto, l’inutile veleno della vendetta.
